About YAP-P

The Youth Access to Psychiatry Program is a pediatric mental health care access (PMHCA) program that includes a provider-to-provider consultation line and behavioral health resources. It is available free of charge through the South Carolina Department of Mental Health. Its mission is to improve the availability and quality of mental health care for youth by partnering with pediatric primary care providers in South Carolina.

Getting Started

The program launched in Aiken, Barnwell, Bamberg, and Allendale counties in 2023. Please connect to learn more about the program.

Consulting with YAP-P is as Easy as 1-2-3

Your practice connects with YAP-P via QR code, website or by calling 888-SC-YAPPY.

Step 2

Practice information is gathered through our website or by YAP-P staff via telephone and memorandum of understanding is signed.

Partnership and participation packages with login information, resources and program materials.

More About The Program

Child Psychiatry Consultation Line

Providers have access to the YAP-P consultation line to receive clinical consultation and written recommendations. It is staffed by board certified child psychiatrists.

Care Navigator

Providers have access to a mental health professional dedicated to supporting the collaboration between community primary care providers, patients and families, YAP-P and SCDMH Mental Health Centers.

Child psychiatrist telehealth consultation (or e-consultation) line for providers
Care Navigator to support referrals and ongoing collaboration
